Code of Conduct
We, as representatives of the ELITE Sharks and Lady Sharks, agree to follow and abide by the following program rules, team rules, and parent rules code of conduct. We understand that there are penalties if these Codes of Conduct are abused in any way. These rules are to reinforce club and team discipline, to always display excellence in appearance and conduct, and to teach each player to have a more competitive and respectful outlook of the game of basketball.
PROGRAM RULES:
We understand that all practices, tournaments, and club activities are mandatory.
It is imperative to be at practice on time. Players need to be on the court dressed and ready to practice at the designated time. (Excused or unexcused tardy – 2 “suicides”)
It is imperative to be at the game on time, which means ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to start of game. (Not ready – will not start and/or limit playing time)
Players must be at the gym 15 minutes before their scheduled practice time to stretch. TAKE STRETCHING SERIOUSLY!
Enter the gym with basketball attitudes. Leave the socializing out until after practice. Remember: CLUB BALL IS NOT FOR EVERYONE; IT IS ONLY FOR THE SERIOUS.
We will show respect towards our teammates, coaches, club representatives, officials, and parents.
Inappropriate and disrespectful words; such as the word “WHAT” should not be used when answering to any club representative, coaches, teammates, and parents. Also refrain from saying words such as: suck, stupid, and shut up.
What coaches say goes. Players are expected to follow without back talk. Coaches are expected to act with moderation.
Each player is expected to hustle to/from the court during substitutions/time-outs/etc.
When coaches are speaking, players are to listen to coach talk.
Players are to hustle shagging balls and in between drills – no one walks.
No leaning on the walls or sitting down during drills and water breaks.
Players are expected to run hard in the beginning, during, and at the end of every practice. Club is a lot of conditioning.
Players are to care for facilities and equipment. All coaches, players and spectators are to make sure their court is clean before leaving the gym and all balls must be accounted for.
We will refrain from the use of foul language and unsportsmanship-like body gestures towards anyone or opponents.
Players are responsible to call coach or representative when unable to attend practice. (Unexcused absence – 5 “suicides”)
Attendance is always taken at every practice. It is very important to be at practice as attendance is part of the decision process for future participation in club/games.
TEAM RULES:
-
Behavior problems will not be tolerated! After one warning the player may be placed on another team. If the player continues and is not willing to change, that may result in dismissal from the club. All players will show club and team spirit and sportsmanship at all times. Conduct yourself in a respectful manner as a positive representative of the ELITE Sharks and Lady Sharks.

Parents are not to earn player’s positions or playing time; the player must earn it! We understand that sometimes parent think that it is for the good of the player, but does not realize that it is only hurting the player more.
All team players must understand team concept and their role as a team player.
All players must be committed to academics by maintaining satisfactory grades. A player cannot play basketball without good grades.
